Game 6, Clayton Kershaw (ATL) vs Marcus Stroman (HOU)
Both of these starters got roughed up a bit in their Game 2 matchup, so they're looking
to redeem themselves... Kershaw by winning the series in Houston and Stroman by giving
the Astros just one more day in uniform. No score through 2 innings, but the cracks
are starting to show for Kershaw. Clayton managed to strike out 6 Astros in the 2nd and
3rd innings, but he was sandwiching those Ks with hits. In the 3rd inning, with a man
on, one of those hits was a Josh Donaldson HR. Stros 2-0. In the 5th inning, the Braves
pen gets involved. Kershaw gets a K and gives up a walk and tips his hat to the crowd.
His evening is done with a respectable line. 2 pitching changes later, Atlanta gets out
of the jam and keeps it 2-0. But they can't keep runners off the plate in the 6th inning,
as Houston starts the inning with a walk and a double... and manage to just get a single
run. 3-0, Houston. Not going down without a fight, Atlanta comes back in the top of the
7th with 3 singles to lead off the inning to cut the lead to 3-1. Houston concedes a
run on a DP ball and gets out of the inning a hitter later. 3-2, Houston. The rest of
the game was quiet, though, as Stroman would finish out a CG win and give this series
the game 7 it deserves. Through 6 games, there have been 4 1 run games.
Houston 3 - Atlanta 2
WP: Marcus Stroman
LP: Clayton Kershaw
Stroman takes home the game ball for this one.
Series tied at 3.
