Game 6: Bassitt vs. Ray
The series goes back to Minnesota on a cool, 45-degree night. Nathaniel Lowe leads off
the bottom of the first with a home run, but Ohtani and Nick Castellanos go back-to-back
in the second. In the bottom of the fourth, Kiermaier singles with two outs and slow-
moving Jason Castro on second. After getting three runners thrown out home in the series,
Twins’ third-base coach Al Newman finally puts up a red light. Good decision, because
Avisail Garcia follows with a three-run homer. Ray is done after four as the Twins turn
to their bullpen. Rasmussen ends up going 2.2 scoreless innings and Tim Mayza, Luis
Garcia and Blake Treinen keep the Sox off the board as the Twins move on to the ALCS.
Twins 5, White Sox 2. WP-Rasmussen. LP-Bassitt. HR-Lowe, Garcia, Ohtani, Castellanos.
Thanks to Scott for a tight series and a good battle all season. We built our roster to
face the Sox and it paid off in this series as poor Harper faced a ton of lefties and hit
.160 with 11 K’s. That double play in Game 3 was certainly the big play of the series,
along with Garcia’s home run in Game 6. Ohtani fared much better with his four home runs.
Series MVP ... Umm, no standouts. Nobody on the Twins drove in more than four runs or
scored more than four. No pitcher won two games and three different guys picked up saves.
Catchers Mejia and Castro went a combined 8-for-18 with three home runs, six runs and
five RBIs, so we’ll name them co-MVPs.
