Game 2 Kershaw v Stroman
HOU jumps out to an early lead in the 1st , with Donaldson scoring after his lead off
double on a single by Seager. Kershaw settles down and manages to limit the damage to
one run. In the top of the 3rd, Gurriel is at it again with a 2 out 2 run HR to put
the Braves up 2-1. In to the bottom of the 6th, Kershaw is pitching well. A one-out
single puts Luke Voit on bases. Kershaw handles Andrew Benitendi ... But then comes
the "should I bring in the RP to face Canha moment" .... Canha's not greate v lefties
but Kershaw is over 100 pitches ... ATL leaves him in ... Wrong !!!! Canha hits 2-run
HR to put the Astros in front 3-2. But those plucky Braves don't give up. Braves
play small ball on an assortment of singles, steals, doubles, IBBs and SFs to take a 5-3.
Donaldson answers with a solo shot in the bottom of the 7th. After 3up - 3 down top of
the 8th. We go to the bottom of the 8th. Jose Alvarez is working with a runner on
first and 2 out, when Jake Rogers comes to the plate. It is another one of those
"should I bring in the RP moment". Rogers crushes lefties ... If I bring in a Righty
... Jesse Winker will be coming off the bench ... So Alvarez pitchers to Rogers BOOOM!
(That is not the sound of someone banging a garbage can ... or is it) It is a 2-run
HR deep to left ... It still has not come down. Houston goes up 6-5 going to the 9th.
An error and steal puts Hoerner at 2nd, with one out. Sewald strikes out Sheets and
Gurriel to save the game.
ATL 5 - Hou 6, Series Tied 1-1
Rogers is the easy choice to player of the game
