Game 5 of the "Road Warrior" series as the road team has won all games. The matchup
is Carlos Rodon v. Luis Castillo. Ding!, Ding!!. This is another pitcher's affair
and it lives up to the hype. The Braves score a quick run in the 2nd while the
Phillies answer with a run of their own in the 3rd to tie the game up at 1. Braves
ride Rodon to the playoff IP limit and he does not disappoint, leaving the 7th still
deadlocked. The top of the 8th, Daniel Hudson is on the mound for the Phils, a
one-out walk followed by a Hoerner double puts the Braves in front 2-1. TJ MacFarland
faces Schwarber, Chapman and Walsh in the 3up, 3 down inning. Goes to the 9th at 2-1
Braves. Jorge Alcala goes 3 up, 3 down to take it to the bottom of the 9th for the
last Philly opportunity. The real life Phils come back with 6 in the 9th. The CFA
Phils score 9th inning come backs in elimination games 3 and 4. Will the Braves blow
another 9th inning lead? Righties Molina, Swanson and Cain are due up. With nowhere
else to turn the Braves turn to Adam Cimber. Vierling pinch hits and strikes out. One
down. Swanson pops out to 1st. Two Down. RH Cain is up. Cain can't hit lefties ...
Guess who's back. Jake McGee!!!!! Jorge Alfaro is called to pinch hit. And he launches
it to CF. The announcer channels John Sterling tracking the ball to the fence ...
where it is caught by Kyle Tucker. Braves win 2-1 and take the series 3-2.
After a pretty rough start for the Phillies, it turned out to be a pretty good series.
The Phillies didn't get many breaks in this one, Bieber and Castillo got in hole early
most games and it was tough to dig out. And they had no answer for Carlos Rodon, but
who does???. But true to form, they made things exciting, the last three games were
memorable and hard fought
Always fun to netplay Eric. A classy guy and the best team in the CFA year-in,
year-out. In 17 years, he's never finished under .500. Amazing! I am lucky enough to
be in the same division. The real-life Phillies took until 1980 before winning their
first WS, I hope EK won't have the wait that long.
