GAME 3: at New York’s Yankee Stadium

After a pair of games during which Angels owner Dan McBride and Yankees owner Tristan
H. Cockcroft both remarked how often their teams were hitting fly balls merely to the
warning track, the series shifted to Yankee Stadium, which, well… does it even HAVE a
warning track? Boy did the game style shift quickly in this one, as the Yankees bats
exploded for a CFA postseason record-setting — and CFA record-tying including all games
— NINE home runs, as Angels starter Archer was certainly a three-true outcomes hurler,
lasting 4 1/3 innings while allowing five of the homers with two walks and nine strikeouts.
When Abreu hit a two-run homer in the second inning, knotting the score at two after the
Yankees’ opening-inning solo homers by Jackie Bradley Jr. and Kyle Seager, it seemed that
this might be a close, competitive slugfest. The Yankees, however, homered in seven of
their eight innings, got 7 1/3 innings of two-run baseball from Flaherty, and rolled to
a 15-2 victory.
