CFA NLDS Rockies (103-59) vs. Mets (102-60)
This marked the first playoff foray for current Rockies management, and although I already
have gray, thinning hair, I’ll say this level of drama made it worse. Many thanks to Pat of
the Mets for hosting the marathon NetPlay session to knock out the series in one night.
With one game separating these teams in the regular season standings (though the Mets won 5
of 8 between them), a close series was expected. It delivered in the end, as you’ll see below.
Game 1: NYM Mike Leake at COL Max Scherzer
Leake and Wei-Yin Chen gave up runs in each of the first six innings (11 total). Scherzer,
meanwhile, struck out nine in seven innings. Colorado’s Kyle Seager went 3 for 4 with four
RBIs and a homer, and Mikie Mahtook and Devon Travis had HRs off the bench. In a move to
possibly regret later, Colorado used Ryan Madson and Ken Giles to close the blowout.
