Game 2 featured this matchup of perhaps the best pitcher in the AL vs young gun Brandon
Beachy... At this point, Oakland are wondering what will it take to knock off the Twins
in the postseason, having lost 5 consecuitve October contests to the Twins. Howie
Kendrick got the scoring started for Minnesota in the 2nd, knocking home standout CF
Justin Ruggiano.
The A's tied the game in the bottom half, Clint Barmes knocking home Adrian Beltre.
Bloomquist and Desmond scored in the fifth, the big hit being a Hunter Pence RBI single
up the middle. The DH/1b tandem of Kendrys Morales and Yonder Alonso (known in Oakland
as "The Cuban Missile Crisis") teamed up to pull Oakland within a run 3-2 in the bottom
half of the fifth.
Minnesota extended their lead to 2 runs in the top of the 7th on a RBI groundout from Ben
Zobrist. Oakland would score single runs in each the 7th and 8th to pull even with
Minnesota headed to the ninth (McCutchen scoring on a Bloomquist error in the 7th) and
then a dramatic game-tying 2 out homerun from Oakland 2b Jeff Keppinger. The bullpens
were terrific into extra innings, where Minnesota's defense let them down again, with a
Howie Kendrick error setting the table for Keppinger to knock a walk off single.. Final
