Game 2: The Mets' Platoon Patrol starts them off right as Viciedo shows Price what he
does to LHP with a two run single to RF. Things start to look like they could get out of
hand right away but Pedroia strands two runners by hitting into an inning ending double
play. Cespedes takes Halladay deep in the bottom of the inning and ties it up. Solo HRs
by Bourn and Viciedo open up the lead again, but Price avoids the really big inning and
guts it out through 5.
Halladay starts off the 6th with a 5-2 lead and having retired 11 straight, but in the
blink of an eye his world is changed and the game is tied as Belt, Mauer and Cespedes
go back-to-back-to-back. It remains tied until the 8th when Nix hits a 2 out triple off
of Russell, bringing Chapman into the game who proceeds to throw a wild pitch allowing
him to score. Stults and Wilhelmsen decide to get into the act in the bottom of the
inning, loading the bases on 3 walks and bringing Stanton to the plate. Wilhelmsen
recovers and strikes him out, and then closes the door by getting a double play ball
from Ramirez.
But Wilhelmsen starts the bottom of the 9th having trouble finding the plate again,
putting Saunders on to lead off the inning and giving way to Lecure. Lecure finds the
plate but gets a little too much of it as Alex Gonzalez ties the game with a double.
Hairston pinch bunts for Chapman, moving the tying run 90 feet from paydirt. Chen then
enters the game tasked with the glamorous job of saving pitches by more important
pitchers by intentionally walking Cedeno. Patton enters to face Belt but Brandon gets
the job done, lining out to Bourn in CF and cashing the game winning run. Brewers 7,
Mets 6, Brewers lead 2-0
