This was another interesting game, as once again the Mets jumped all over LA pitching.
As they went single, single, walk, homerun to stake NY a 4-0 lead (Willingham once again
the NY hero). But this time LA came right back as with 2-outs, Dunn doubled off Blackburn,
Delgado was hit by a pitch, Tulo walked, and McCann hit a light-tower shot (despite no tower
in LA) to tie it 4-4 with a Dodger grandslam. The Mets' manager then once again showed his
quick hook by yanking Blackburn after 2 leadoff singles in the 3rd - and it once again paid
off as Laffey proceeded to toss 4.1 1 hit innings to shutdown LA. Meanwhile LA pulled its
starter in 4th after WRod gave up a single to Aybar and brought in Mathis. Mathis got out
of the 4th, but in the 5th he gave a leadoff single and a WP to move go-ahead run to 2nd.
Grabow came in and got 2 outs, before Bourn lined a single to put the Mets ahead 5-4. It
stayed that was until the bottom of the 8th, when Mets closer came on for a long save but
instead walked Lopez to lead off the inning, then watched as Adam Dunn slammed another home
run to put LA ahead 6-5. Fuentes and White then closed out a 1-2-3 9th to give LA a 3-1
lead in the series.
